The Greater Orlando Spinal Cord Injury Network

The Greater Orlando Spinal Cord Injury Network is a non-profit group for people with SCI in the Orlando area. Our mission is to serve the needs of SCI’s (spinal cord injuries) in employment, adaptive sports, recreation, social functions, networking, outreach, SCI prevention, and guest speakers for the group and the community.

Learning that you have a spinal cord injury is devastating, and the world as you know it changes forever.

We know the road back to independence will have many challenges for you and your family. GOSCIN will be with you every milestone of the way. We offer Peer & Family Support meetings, with individuals who have been through similar journeys. Everyone's journey is their own but we are here if you need them to help you navigate your way forward.

Online Virtual Support Network

Our online space for people to ask questions, read about new products and connect with other people. The GOSCIN Peer Support Volunteers are regularly online, posting new or useful information and answering any questions you may have about life with a spinal cord injury.

GOSCIN has partnered with community vendors and sponsors to host recreation and social events for people with a spinal cord injury. These events are free and the perfect opportunity to meet new people, enjoy the Florida sun, share experiences and possibly try something new.

Members Giving Back

There are many GOSCIN  group members that love to give back. One of the many ways to do this is by providing education sessions by request, covering a range of topics. If you’re looking for a speaker, or need volunteers get in touch with us we might have the perfect member for you.

Our dedicated team of volunteers

We wanna say thank you to each and everyone of our volunteers and board members, without you we cannot continue to do the great work that we are doing in the Central Florida region.

People helping people find their ability...

The Greater Orlando Spinal Cord Injury Network is a community of peers that seeks to connect individuals so that they may learn from each other and explore their abilities. There are opportunities for people of all levels of ability including adaptive sports and recreation, social events and community outreach, as well as education and advocacy. GOSCIN was established to ensure that individuals with disabilities, specifically spinal cord injuries, have the tools and resources to live happy and fulfilling lifestyles.

Our Goals

Established in 2012 from a group of individuals that saw a need for larger visibility and resources in the Orlando community. Since our incorporation we have worked on many projects, programs and events but our goals always remain the same.

  • Encourage independence and reintegration of people with Spinal Cord Injuries and other physical deficits into the community.
  • Organize and participate in adaptive recreation and recreational activities.
  • Sponsor and promote adaptive sports (for recreation and competition).
  • Host and engage in social events (for example, picnics, parties, bowling, fishing, sporting events, lunches, dinners, etc.)
  • Provide support to the network of people and resources assisting people with physical deficits.
  • Identify and promote adaptive technologies to assist independence and reintegration of people with Spinal Cord Injuries and other physical deficits into the community.
  • Educate about Spinal Cord Injuries and other physical deficits to patients, their families, care givers, personal assistants, health care professionals and the general public.
  • Support the best possible life for people with Spinal Cord Injuries and other physical deficits.
